    Deborah Roberts

Deborah Roberts sang regularly for many years with the Tallis Scholars, with whom she gave over 1200 concerts.

She now divides most of her time between her work as co artistic director of Brighton Early Music Festival, running and directing the festival’s own three choirs, organising singing courses in Italy and directing and singing with her own group Musica Secreta, and its ‘sister’ choir Celestial Sirens. These ensembles, specialise in 16th and 17th- century music as performed by women’s voices – nuns, courtiers and courtesans - and have released seven ground breaking and award winning CDs . The most recent, Sacred Hearts and secret music, was devised in conjunction with the novel Sacred Hearts by the renowned historical novelist Saran Dunant. The groups are now busy touring a music drama based on the novel. Plans for 2011 include a performance at Latitude, the UK’s coolest festival, the day after the oakham course ends!

When she can be dragged from her computer, Deborah still tries to keep fit - swimming and running in her home town of Brighton, and diving in much warmer seas!
